Known Asbestos Exposure Sites

Because asbestos dust can turn up in just about any location we live and work, it's impossible to know in advance where there might be a problem, however as major industrial or manufacturing facilities are evaluated and deemed to be locations where dangerous levels of asbestos dust exist, they are catalogued by the federal government.

Danger of Exposure to Naturally Occurring Asbestos

Asbestos occurs natuarally in some rock formations across the United States. While rocks or outcroppings by themselves do not pose a hazard, the risk factor for becoming exposed to asbestos dust climbs as Americans go about our lives building homes, clearing land for roadways and parks, and otherwise break up or disturb that rock. All it takes is for a park to be built on land that contains asbestos infused rock, or that rock to be ground up for use on gravel roads...

Because of this potential hazard, we need to be aware of this and become informed about the issue and it's ramifications. The more educated we become, the more we can do to mitigate the risk of exposure.

California Naturally Occurring Asbestos Sites
